The mural is finished and I'm so happy with how it turned out!!!!!
I’ve been drawing houses and maps for a while but this is my first mural and the largest thing I've ever illustrated on a wall and it felt like such a huge accomplishment to finish it.
When I initially came up with the design idea for the new Good Sammy store in Leederville, I wanted to show something that displayed positive energy and I loved the idea of a
monochromatic look with some yellow highlights.
I put my heart, creativity and attention to detail into this project. I love using my art to lift the mood and well-being of the people living and working in Leederville.
One of my goals was to capture the character and personality of Leederville and celebrate the local stories and it was amazing having so many people cheering me on via Instagram and in person. It's going to be amazing having a new Good Sammy store in town, and I'm so glad to be part of this!
I think this mural of Leederville is a great addition to our sense of place and offer ‘belonging’ for our community members.
In addition to attracting attention, I hope this illustration encourage employees, viewers,
customers and locals to stop and interact with my art.
I couldn't be happier to have had this opportunity.
I think this was the perfect project to get me started on my mural journey and I hope to take on more projects like this in the near future.
